SELF LOVE - THE GIFT YOU GIVE TO THE WORLD

Self-Love Is Our Gift To The World

Love is everything.  There is nothing more powerful in this world than love, not even fear.

It’s the energy that connects us to each other. It brings meaning to our lives. It is the true essence of our beings.  And we have unlimited access to it.

However, as humans, we create barriers to feeling the vibration of love within ourselves. We suppress emotions. We hold on to limiting beliefs. We disconnect from the present moment. We build unhealthy habits to soothe ourselves.

We can remove some of these barriers by practicing self-love through three things;  appreciation, forgiveness and acceptance.

When we practice self-love, we both give and receive. It then becomes easier to share our love with others and open our hearts to receive it. This creates a beautiful balance in the universe, and contributes compassion and empathy to the collective vibration.

In other words, loving yourself is the greatest gift you can give to the world.

There is no better day than today to begin the practice of self-love.  For starters it means having a high regard for your own well-being and happiness. Self-love means taking care of your own needs and not sacrificing your well-being to please others. Self-love means not settling for less than you deserve.

Self-love can mean something different for each person because we all have many different ways to take care of ourselves. Figuring out what self-love looks like for you as an individual is an important part of your mental health.

What does self-love mean to you? For starters, it can mean:

Talking to and about yourself with love

Prioritizing yourself

Giving yourself a break from self-judgement

Trusting yourself

Being true to yourself

Being nice to yourself

Setting healthy boundaries

Forgiving yourself when you aren’t being true or nice to yourself

For many people, self-love is another way to say self-care. To practice self-care, we often need to go back to the basics and

Listen to our bodies

Take breaks from work and reconnect to nature.

Put the phone down and do something creative, use your hands and your mind to make something amazing.

Eating healthily, but sometimes indulge in your favorite foods.

Self-love means accepting yourself as you are in this very moment for everything that you are. It means accepting your emotions for what they are and putting your physical, emotional and mental well-being first.

Did you know that speaking to your body actually creates a physical and emotional response deep within you?  Julia Cannon, author of “Soul Speak, The Language of Your Body”, says that every ache, pain and symptom is the body delivering a message of importance to you in its own unique language. The only problem is, we don't have the translation manual for this language - until now. We are much greater than the sum of our physical parts. We are a spiritual being residing in a physical body. We came into this dimension to have experiences and to grow. We have constant guidance and support from our other parts as we go about having these experiences. It is very easy to forget who and what we really are and why we have placed ourselves here. Our higher selves are constantly communicating with us to help us stay on the path we have chosen for our growth. One of the easiest ways to get our attention is through pain, so that's why we use it. When we learn to communicate directly with these parts, we no longer need the physical messages.

To my great amazement, I began exercising the advice Julia shared in her book and saw my body respond almost immediately!  It seemed so simple; how could I have missed it before?  We humans are so complex, yet so very basic in our inner world.  This book and its methods truly changed my way of thinking and my way of dealing with my own debilitating autoimmune disease.  I now make it a daily practice to meditate, speak kindly to my body, to listen to what it is telling me and to take the time to truly appreciate the beauty in the world all around me.

I am a believer that we are here on this earth for a reason, one very specific goal that we set for ourselves.  When we stray too far from our path, we are reminded in subtle and in my case, many not so subtle ways.  When we go within and seek the answers, then reset our course, our lives become so much richer and rewarding.  Our cares become more of the heart and less of the mind. It reminds me of a message my guide once told me, “Look to your mind with open wonder, look to your heart with trust.”  I do that now and am so much happier for it.

Be kind to yourself, be forgiving, take time each day to meditate.  You don’t have to be the Dalai Lama to benefit from daily meditation.  If all you have is five minutes, it’s enough.  Go within to find your answers, you will see that they’ve been there waiting for you all along.  The more connected you become to your spiritual self, the easier it is to find joy.  You’ll begin to realize that you don’t need others approval, yours is all that matters.  It’s a freeing and joyous process that will change your outlook on life.  It is then, and only then, that you will truly understand how powerful love is, when you are finally able to give it to the one person that matters the most, you!
